Subject: How to X-fer data from old computer to.. |
Comment: I have an old compaq presario that runs windows 95 and I upgraded (sort of) to a newer Compaq presario that runs windows 95/98. Here's my question: how do I transfer data (specifically several dozen mp3 files) from my old computer to the new one. The old one has no zip drive and no cd/rw drive. The new one does have a Cd/rw drive. Can I uplink the two hard drives somehow and just burn the mp3's onto a cd using the new computer's burner? Help!

Reply: (edit)you could setup a network, or slave the old drive in the new conputer, or move the rw to the old computer, or do multiple spanned zip files with floppies, or upload it all to the internet then download, or transfer by typing a lot of ones and zeros, or slave the new hard drive to the old computer...

Reply: (edit)take your old drive out and open your new computer, hook the old drive up to the cable that connects the hard drive ( there should be a plug for it and switch the jumper of the old one to make it a slave drive. boot up and drag and drop your MP3 files from the old to the new.
