Hi

Can someone plz help me identify my exact RAM type? I have a Kingston 128 and is a SDRAM. How do I know whether it's a PC100 or 133 installed. I have generated a list of items using FreshDiagnose. Any clue from the list? Thanks.

Download Everest Home edition. Find it here: http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=1

The information you provided say that you have a 128MB SDRAM in bank 0. Running at 70ns!?

You also reported in bank 3, a 128MB(?) fast page RAM also running at 70ns. The speed of this card is correct. I don't think they made them larger than 64MB.

Open up the case, if you have any 72 pin memory cards installed, remove them! All they are doing is slowing down the RAM you are actually using!

72 pin cards are shorter than SDRAM. They are also retained by a chrome spring clip. After unclipping both sides the card is dropped to about 45 degrees and removed. The SDRAM is held by a white plastic clip.

are you sure thats not EDO ram. in you info above you have current speed at 70ns.
thats slow.
open your case and look at your memory.
if its about 5 inches long its SDRAM, prob 100mkz
if its about 3 inches long, its EDO ram.

Hi I'm back and got another list from Lavalys. It says the memory is a SDRAM PC 100. And I've check inside that there's only one RAM stick held by a white plastic clip. However I'm not so sure about the 70 ns speed thing. Maybe here's a more accurate report @:

In this case I would like to add another two 256. But can I use PC 133?

Yes, if your motherboard supports PC133, you can use it with PC100. The downside is all the RAM will run at the speed of the slowest stick ie 100MHz.

If your computer is a PIII or better, it should support PC133.

Use CPUZ as was recommended by Frosty. I don't think Everest is telling you what you need to know.

Just download the file, unzip it, & click on CPUZ.exe. Then click on the SPD tab to find out what memory you have. The Memory tab will tell you what speed you're running it at.
