Subject: How to set up 2 monitors ?
OS: XP Prof
CPU/Ram: 2.4 GHZ / 4 GB
Manufacturer/Model: Dell
Comment:

Hi,

I have a 256 MB video card, with a Dell XP Prof OS, 4 GB memory, duel core processor.
I have 1 video card in it, with a split DVI cable going to 2 monitors.

How do I configure it so the 2 monitors show the SAME exact screens ?
Presently, I can only set them up so it shows the 2nd screen as an extention, which I don't want.

Thanks !

What Dell model is it, and is it a desktop/tower or a laptop?
What make and model video chipset is it?

"I have 1 video card in it, with a split DVI cable going to 2 monitors."

I assume the video came with that cable.

Without having that info, I can only suggest:
- take a look in Display - Settings - Advanced - Displays or similar - the setting should be there somewhere. Use the HELP for the video there.
- if the video came with the system READ the docs for the video that were probably put there in the Start Programs list somewhere by Dell.

I've already checked all the options through "settings" and "displays", and there's no option for having 2 monitors show the SAME screen.

It's a Dell tower.

Go into Display Properties Settings. Click on the second monitor. Uncheck "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor."

Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

I tried unchecking "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor", and all it did was turn off the 2nd monitor. :(

It's a Dell Optiplex GX 620.
It's PCIE 256MB GRPH, FH, Dual VGA/DVI.

From your incomplete description of your video, if the card came with the system, you have an ATI 256mb Radeon X600 PCI-e card.

Open the Catalyst Control Center by right-clicking on a blank area of the Desktop and selecting it.
Probably in
Displays Manager - you need to CLONE the displays.
Use the HELP if you need to.
