how to repair or bypass broken scanner lock on canon mp830

Specs: Windows XP
The scanner lock on my canon pixma mp830 printer is brocken and stuck in the "locked" position. When it tries to initialize when turned on, the light travels only 1-2" then returns to home position. I can't print or scan because the printer cannot initialize. How can I access the area beneath the scanner glass and to the left when the scanner lock toggle is located. Any help would be great. Thanks

Are you sure there is even a lock on the scanner portion of your AIW? I had a similar issue recently with a Xerox stand alone scanner that DOES have a carriage lock. The issue was incompatible drivers.

If you have tried to re-install drivers and software then you might want to try removing everything and starting over fresh.

Canon may have an uninstall file in the software folder. If so, use it.

Yes, the lock is a toggle next to the scanner glass and is used when moving the multifunction machine. My problem is that I can't figure out how to get under the scanner glass so I can disable the switch. I removed all screws and nothing releases. Thanks

Most likely the plastic parts snap together and have interlocking tabs.

So did you engage the lock when moving the machine?

The first link below is for the setup instructions. The scanner lock is a slide button. How did that get broken?

The second link below is for support. There is an address for professional support, which may be able to help you.
