Hi all
Is there a way to remove cd marker from a cd?
Somebody wrote on all my dvd-rw's, which I like to keep blank.

Thanks in advanced,

Liz

Hmmmm...I don't know about that one. Any idea what kinda marker was used? A solvent like alcohol or acetone "might" work, but it may also damage the disc

Alcohol is safe for the disc but acetone will dissolve it. You need to determine what solvent works for the marker before attempting anything on the disc.

Many markers are water based so I'd begin with a cloth dampened with water. If that seems to help, you might want to try a little glass cleaner. Next would be alcohol; but, if alcohol doesn't do it, I'd stop there.

I just tried one of my cd-rw disks and water or windex wouldn't touch it but the 99% rubbing alcohol I use for everything else did the job. The disk worked fine. I don't have a dvd burner so I can't speak for dvd-rw disks.

Surgical spirits are good.

Test first on a place where any marks left are not going to be too noticeable.

White spirit is stronger, but tends to leave marks.

Good luck - Keep us posted.

Thanks for your replies :)
I honestly don't know what kind of marker it is, since somebody else wrote it.
I'l try rubbing some water on it and if that doesn't work I'll try alcohol.

Ok, I tried to remove it with water, but no succes. So i applied a little bit alcohol on a qtip and it worked like a charm. I'll test the disk tomorrow to see if it's damaged.
