Sounds like you may have a failing hard drive. Is there a cd inside the unit? Generally this error occurs because the usual boot device the hard drive is not responding to the bios, and usually because of a hard drive failure requiring replacement of the hard drive. Do you need the data off the hard drive?

To err is human but to really screw things up, you need a computer!

Go into the bios & make sure in Boot options, it is booting first from the correct device.
