Solved how to reboot a laptop

Specs: Windows 7
need help reseting asus K501 laptop to its factory settings it is windows 7
need to by pass the login lost user password

I'm not sure how it is with windows 7 but with xp the administrator account is not password protected unless you add one yourself. So you can usually log on as administrator and then delete the passwords on the other accounts. Maybe 7 has closed that loophole but you can certainly give it a try.

Or, do you know if the laptop's drive has a restore partition? If so you can boot to it and then restore the original OS.

You should not need to boot into Windows to reset to factory state. That can be done before any Windows screen appears. Go to the link below and download the manual for your model. Follow the instructions for a factory reset.

Yeah, I thought if it was just a forgotten password the user may be able to circumvent that problem without doing a restore/reset.

For info, reboot simply means powering off then on again - it is how a computer starts. For some unknown reason many people these days seem to think it means factory restore.

If its not a factory restore and calling it rebooting it's a full installation and calling it formatting.
