OS: memtest 3.1a
CPU/Ram: 2.17/ .125gb
Comment:

I downloaded Memtest 86-3.1a bootable cd rom version.

Haven't been having any problems that I know of but wanted to try it out. I have no idea how to read memtest to know if I have any problems or not.

test one has good and a bunch of 00000's
bad 00002000

What does pass 0 mean? Does it mean the ram's bad? They got sucky instructions of memtest in my opinion.

If there are any bad sticks of ram how can I tell which one it is or are they all bad?

I just want to know how to use memtest and read the results.

Don't worry about all of that.
If it finds an error it will tell you.

If it does find an error, remove one stick and test again, if the error is gone then the stick you removed is bad.

What do I look for if there are errors? Does something pop up on the screen saying error or what?

Here's what it might say:

Tst: Test Number

Failing Address: Failing memory address

Good: Expected data pattern

Bad: Failing data pattern

Err-Bits: Exclusive or of good and bad data (this shows the position of the failing bit(s))

Count: Number of consecutive errors with the same address and failing bits

If Memtest is to complicated for you, then I recommend you use Microsoft Memory Tester. It's a lot easier to use. And if it finds an error it will say "Error" next to the memory address. I recommend you run the “Extended test” and if your ram makes it through the first pass without errors then I’d say it’s fine.

Well thanks for the Micorsoft Memory Tester. I ran it and it It detected errors too..

Something on the MATS+ Failed and INVC Failed.

I removed a suspected bad ram and re ran test through 1 pass and no fails at all everything succeeded. Running MemTest now and at 60% no errors so far so I think i got er figured out. Both Programs = No Reports No errors.

So it's either Don't buy CENTON ram again or the Dual bank ram is a problem with the other single bank, side , whatever?
