Specs: Windows 7
Im having some trouble with my acer v5-471. Its gpu has stopped working and i feel really disappointed. It does work sometimes if i continuously turn it on and off and i always keep my laptop running when it turns on, but now it turned off again and im tired of waiting for it to work. I would like to know if the acer aspire v5-471 has a gpu that is not completely attached to the mother board and also how to open the laptop itself. Thanks :)

All laptop GPUs are permanently attached to the motherboard. Some laptops have a second GPU for running graphics-intensive applications like Photoshop, video-editing & games, but yours only has one GPU which is integrated on the motherboard.

How do you know it's the GPU that's causing the problem?

It could be the hard drive that's starting to fail so you should test it with the drive manufacturer's diagnostic software for DOS which loads from a bootable CD. The links are here:

The download is usually a CD Image (an ISO file) from which you can create a CD using IMGBurn:

Boot your laptop from that CD to test the drive. use the long/extended test if available.
