How to monitor serial port.

Hello All!
I have a device that is connected to serial port. I need to see what it sends and receives. In other words I need to monitor what is going through serial port. Can sombody help with it???

in the micro-satellite program at my school, we use hyperterminal to communicate with the antenna and radio controller that's connected to the serial port...
