Does anyone know if there is a way of making my daughters Advent 7081 louder? It's a budget laptop with an ac97 audio driver built in and thats all. No other audio drivers are shipped with it, ie, Nvidia etc. All the volume controls through the control panel and built in equalizer are set to max volume but the trouble is it still doesn't get very loud. When you play music at full volume it's only what i would call "slightly loud". It's nothing compared to an ordinary PC. Does anyone know if i can install an add-on sound programme or drivers to "boost" the sound up or will i ruin the bios? Does anyone have an Advent 7081 so they can advise me? I do realise that its a very budget laptop and that the sound is probably as good as it's going to get but if anyone has any ideas i would be very grateful. Many thanks.

Does your laptop have any audio output jacks on it? (like a headphone jack for example)

If so, simply buy some speakers (the ones that have an amplifier built into it) and connect to laptop. Then you should beable to make it louder.

(Oh and when getting speakers, the ones that come with an AC/DC adapter are the ones with the builtin amplifier, just check the package to see if there is a volume nob on one of the speakers)

And of course it won't be nearly as portable with cables and speakers attached, but oh well.......

sorry for the late reply. thanks for the advice people. yeh. dtech 10, everything is set to max but it's still not very loud. it was mainly if you want the headphones on for your music, you know. it just doesn't get loud. on MY pc, the sound blows your head off. but i have NVIDIA 6.1 sound and dolby digital and allsorts of other things on mine. This is my daughters laptop and all she has on is the AC97 audio driver. It was only a budget laptop so i guess basically its just got a pap sound driver on a cheapo motherboard. lol. nevermind. i appreciate your replies.

Hi, here's what you need to do, and it really does work. Install a pluginin called DFX 7.5 , type it into google for download address.
