I suspect my power supply is going bad in one of my pc's. The pc will just power off all by itself about 3 or 4 times a week. It only seems to be while I am working on it though. How can I load test it or do some other check to see if the power supply is going bad??
Have a look at this article. You could also be experiencing a thermal overload cutout since you say the problem only seems to happen when you are working on the particular system. Pentium processors have it inbuilt. some motherboards have thermal cutouts as well to protect other types of processors that lack inbuilt protection. Have you checked temperatures in the problem machine?
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
