Reply: (edit)well, its all very easy. one quick question though.. will the new 60GB be the one loading the OS? if so, a reformat / install is in your future. otherwise, you can get right to it. okay, you have BOTH, a PRIMARY and SECONDARY. and on each of these, you have a MASTER and a SLAVE. you already have a dual CDROM setup so this shouldn't be too difficult. people have their own ways of doing this, i don't think either of which matters. when running 4 EIDE devices such as your (and mine) setup, they run one hard drive (Primary master) and have a CDROM (primary slave) then CDROM / hard drive setup on secondary. my setup is C and F ( both hard drives on primary) and D and E ( DVD / CDRW on secondary) never had one problem. on the back of all of these devices there are tabs that identify the jumper settings. most likely theres a diagram on the device telling you where to put them for a Master / Slave setup. if you don't feel like going thru a XP install then hook up your 60GB as primary slave. this way, after you installed it, booted up, go into Your Computer settings, go to properties of new drive and select format. after its done, your ready to store your files. and as far as the BIOS is concerned, unless you've disabled it, it'll pick it up. be safe and check it, set it to AUTO CHECK if it isn't, and your in there. one of the more simplistic tasks that is out there. any probs or questions, post up.

Reply: (edit)set up your new hd as the slave first, and install your main OS on that drive since it is the faster one. after that, you can choose to either make it the master or the slave, although it shouldnt really matter.

Reply: (edit)Hi there, I've set up my 2nd hard drive as you have suggested & formatted it ok (I'm using XP Pro), but the only way I can seem to use the 2nd drive is by going into the disk manager, which shows both my C drive (old one) & the G drive (new one I've just installed). I can copy & move stuff into it by doing this, but the new G drive doesn't appear on any of the drop down options when selecting a drive or in explorer - any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong ? cheers Mike
