For serious gaming you need to install a dedicated graphics card which has it's own memory. Most on-board graphics adapters which use shared system memory just aren't good enough for playing the latest games.

Furthermore, there's more involved than just increasing the graphics memory.
The graphics adapter also needs to support a lot of graphics features which many on-board adapters just do not have.

pip22 nailed it. The amount of video memory is only one aspect of the overall graphics specs. If all the other graphics specs stay the the same & all you do is increase the memory from say, 256MB to 512MB, chances are there will be little or no difference in gaming performance. If you want a more enjoyable gaming experience, you need to invest in an actual gaming card. There's no way around it.
