Hi i scored a computer monitor that has an audio input and it is a Macvision. Can't find anything on the net about it. They mention the same brand as a monitor in a car but not for a desktop computer. What is the audio input for? "The meaning of life is to be happy and useful" Tenzin Gyatso the 14th Dalai Lama
"it is a Macvision" No model number?
"What is the audio input for?"
That's an odd question. You need an audio input for audio output. Apparently the monitor has built-in speakers? If you use an HDMI cable & have the graphic card's audio enabled, you don't need to use the audio input. But if you're using a DVI or VGA cable & want to use the monitor's speakers, you'll need a separate audio cable from the sound card.
Sorry i can't see a model number on it. Yes it looks like it has speakers inbuilt but i can't see where. There is a few buttons on the front underside that say 'menu, auto, select, light and vol/o'. Ah yes it has hdmi and vga. I have it attached to the linux machine so will look later if i can audio enable the soundcard then thanks. Right now its plugged into my windows machine(vga) so i can't look/test. Just never come across this sort of monitor before. I don't buy much stuff. I get given a lot of used stuff via the community :0) "The meaning of life is to be happy and useful" Tenzin Gyatso the 14th Dalai Lama
