how to format SATA to full capacity

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a 500 GB SATA (Seagate Momentus) hardrive, but in reformating it will only recognize a primary partition of 73 GB. I've tried both XP and Vista OS's with the same results. How do I totally reformat the drive to recognize all 500 GB

You need to wipe out the existing partitioning, create new partitions, THEN format. Try using the Seagate software.
