Comment: Trying to build new system.Asus motherboard,AMD processor,Western Digital Hard Disk. How do I format the Hard Disk? I have already used FDISK. When I use Format from the bootable CD Drive it responds with -"incorrect MsDos version"

Reply: (edit)You can use the floppy and CD that came with your new hard disk drive, because I think those drives are already partitioned and formatted, but you have to use the disk (is the fastest way to do it)

Reply: (edit)I have already tried the "How Tos" section on the left.Didn,t get any floppy with hard drive. Copied "FDisk" and used from bootable floppy,I can get "C:/" prompt.I cannot use Format,it responds with "incorrect MsDos version". I have tried using the appropriate download from the manufacturer "WesternDigital",ie.Data Lifeguard. The following error appears:- Error Reading Drive 80 I/O Timeout Sector= 1061172121 ,Result = 4 Used the diagnostic tools,the full test reported "no errors". Contacted customer support- still waiting 3 days later!
