how to format c drive

i need to format my c drive. my whole drive has been compramised with a virus that whenever i re-install xp and the error is still on my hard drive. i dont care about losing everything because i have already lost it. is there a way to do that?

Just boot off the XP CD, delete the all partitioning, repartition it as you see fit, format & install.

If it is infected it may be best to run a low level format first.

This can be downloaded from the hdd makers website.

However, before doing anything are you sure all partitions are infected. For example some pc's are delivered with one containing set up drivers etc.
