It would be much easier to put a new CD drive in your computer and use an install disc.

You can Google for "LAN OS install" and ge tons of hits on how to do it, there are a muriad of ways.

You cannot. As soon as you format the computer you want to install the OS on you would lose the LAN connection.

There are ways of installing an OS over a LAN but it requires hardware and software specifically designed for the purpose.

The easiest solution would be to go out and buy a new CD drive. They are not expensive.

As others have said, it can be done but it's quite tricky. Google "RIS server" if you really want to know. But as a new DVD writer will cost you less than $20, that's the obvious solution.

Yes, you can do all you need over the lan but it is way more complex than to borrow a usb cd drive.
