How to fix no disc in drive???

Specs: Windows 7
no one seems to know what causes " no disc in drive " when there is a disc in drive and why it reads cds and not dvds, this is not rocket science some one surely got to understand how to fix this problem. what the point of using the drives if they won't function correctly!!!!

Not rocket science but a multitude of possible reasons. As you have said "no one seems to know", then I assume you've already tried all the suggestions you've seen in Google.

In which case the only thing left is a faulty drive, unless you've tried changing that too. Like everything else electrical or mechanical they can go wrong.

Most optical drives have two lasers, one for CDs and one for DVDs. It's obviously possible for one to cease functioning whilst the other is still working, giving the symptoms you describe.

The good news is that a replacement drive will cost $20 or less.

Did you try this? Download the latest driver from the system mfg for complete system or component mfg for custom or customized system and installing that.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
