"I have a problem my system has disabled my speakers and soundcard"

A system cannot disable speakers. If your sound isn't working, try reinstalling the audio drivers. You have the drivers CD, right?

"When I go into msconfig it says I'm in safe mode"

Where does MSCONFIG show anything about safe mode?

F8 is used to get you "into" Safe Mode. This will be very definite because the eventual Windows screen will have Safe Mode at each corner.

Booting after power off should take you to normal mode. If you have a display problem, such as display drivers, it might look rather like safe mode (but it isn't unless it says so).

some other bloke...

check first that the sound as not been turned right down or it as been muted right click the sound icon in the task bar and see if there any ticks in the boxes if there is a tick in the mute box just click on it
check drivers instaled go to device manager right click my computor click on properties click on hardware tab then device manager this displays a list click on sound video look to see if your sound card is listed right click on it select update drivers then follow the wizard
