How to fix a windows explorer problem??

whenever i open my drive say "c:\downloads\alala.avi", and when i click the alala.avi file....a message appears saying "Windows explorer has stopped working"....my windows explorer just stops working.... i just cant acces that file...nor any of the files in that folder...pls help me solve it???using cmd.exe...please!!!!
