How to create partitions

Specs: Windows 7, 2.7/4
my laptop hard disk is 500GB and i have win 7 in it. i want to create 2 more partions one for xp another one for just work files. could anyone tell

me how to go abt this..i have acronis software with me. i tried but i am not able to make...

i have these many partitions in my disk...
one laptop recovery partion, one win7 partition & another one which i have made(320GB, i made it primary as well)....there is one more partition of the size100MB(system reserved, primary & active) now i would like to create

another partition out of 320gb, but not able to do so.....
i think i am missing something
please help.

You can only create partitions if you have unallocated space on the hard disk available for it. If you have no unallocated space then you need to make some by reducing the size of the existing partitions.

You need to read the instructions carefully as a mistake when messing about with partitions can render the hard disk unusable and you will need to start again from scratch.
