how to convert raw file system to ntfs ?

Sandisk Cruzer 8gb usb flash drive

Specs: Windows XP
i have a usb flash drive which is not opening due to corrupt filesystem.
the error shown is the pen drive is a RAW drive so the command csdsk F: /f /r doesn't work .
please give a solution by which i can convert my usb flash drive filesystem to ntfs without formatting it.

You can't really.
RAW isn't really a file system, it is what Windows reports when it doesn't recognize the file system. This usually happens when the drive is corrupt or failing. There are utilities available that may allow recovery of at least some of the data.

Flash drives are the least reliable of modern storage media and they should not be trusted for long term storage of important data. If possible you should have this data stored elsewhere, such as the hard drive of a computer.

If files were showing up on the flash drive normally previously, the data on the flash drive is probably damaged. You can use programs with it that will probably be able to repair the damage.
