There are soft that can tell that info(everest) the easy way is to google ram model #(cpu-z can identify ram model #).

ECC is usually only used in servers. Go to www.crucial.com and run the online scanner.

Count the number of chips on the RAM module. Non-ECC will have an even number per side, ECC will have an odd number. The extra chip on the ECC is used for Error Correction.

I have checked using cpu-Z but it didn't show me whether ECC or not. it only shows DDR3

I have tried scan in crucial.com....
It works on windows XP. Shows all detail in XP but not fully scanned on windows 7.
I have to check in windows 7. The problem of ECC or non ECC is still there in windows 7 system.

My PC is higher version workstation.with intel xeon dual E5649 processor. with x5520 chipset. OS is windows 7. I tried online crusical.com but didn't get as it can't able to full scan. and only showed that DDR3 RAM is used.
