How to Backup Router Firmware?

Most routers come with Advanced Features, one of which is to Save the Firmware, have you read the Router Manual ?

There is nothing about it and the web interface only allows to upgrade it. anyway i could get some files from this router including some configuration files and two other file as this: vxworks.z size: 801kb shtm.dlz size: 301kb
are these the firmware and the bootcode?

When you Flash the Router Firmware from the Router's Advanced Menu, it should give you the option to save old Firmware....
