Comment: I've been working on my friend's HP Pavilion ze1210, and he'd like to sell it. I am not explicitly advertising here - I just want to know how much he could expect to sell it for, or if he even could sell it. There is apparently something wrong with the harddrive or the motherboard. Last time I tried it flashed a blue-screen and then shut down. I reinstalled Windows XP (Pro this time), and it seems to run more stably than before, but it's not perfect. Whenever the battery is below about 90% and I try to boot without the power cable plugged in, it shuts down in less than a minute. So I would think there may be something wrong with the battery. The laptop also has a DVD drive, a max resolution of 1024x768, and 32MB shared memory graphics.

Reply: (edit)not much if you advertised it as accurately as in this post. It doesn;t work correctly, thtere is some sort of battery shorting problem and doesn't have a legal copy of Windows. I'll pass.

Reply: (edit)Ummm...as a matter of fact it does have a legal copy of Windows. I am a university student, and I was intending on purchasing the laptop myself, so I installed Windows. I have done nothing illegal. And I also said I was testing it - I did not say I was not going to format it or reinstall Home Edition before giving it back.

Reply: (edit)I meant to include that I am a Math/CS student, and my university has purchased from Microsoft License keys for Windows XP Pro. We are only allowed to install this on one computer, but I am going to be making my current Windows computer into a Linux Samba file server, so I will only have one active installation. And as I said, I was only testing the computer. If I give it back, it will have the same OS on it. Yes, it will have a different Home Edition license key than before, but the fact of the matter is that it had Home Edition on it when I first got it. This is why I don't post at this site very often.

Reply: (edit)<<This is why I don't post at this site very often.>> I just gave you an accurate feedback statement based on what you described. It sounded like you were just going to put some Windows version on here, rather than the one it came legally licensed with. No need to over react. Geeesh.
