Not sure if this is the right forum to post this but im thinking of getting a dektop computer and was wondering how much i my Toshiba laptop is worth. i bought it back in january 2007 and paid $1200 cdn for it. since then the only thing i did to it was install an extra 1gb ram, making 2.40gb ram in total. here are the specs of it at the bottom of the page: http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.g...
also what is a good brand of desktop computers? im not looking for a gaming PC but i want something that performs pretty good mabye better then the core 2 duo i got now.
or is it better/cheaper to build my own? this way everything is upgradable etc..

"performs pretty good mabye better then the core 2 duo i got now."
I don't game and I know nothing about them but, I don't think your processor is the reason you are unhappy with you laptop gaming experience.larry

You're link doesn't work but if gaming performance is the problem, it's not the CPU that's the cause, it's the low end onboard graphics that are used in *most* laptops. That's why they make "gaming laptops". Low end gamers start at about $1000 (US) & go up from there.
Without knowing the specs, it's impossible to say what it's worth. See if you can find a new laptop with somewhat comparable specs & see what it sells for, then deduct a huge chunk of money because you have a 2 yr old model with no warranty. I'm guessing $300? For instance, how does your laptop compare to this one that sells for $450?

here are the specs:

Extremely low end. The one I linked to for $450 is much better. Better CPU, more RAM, better graphics. Look at the specs:
CPU - Intel Pentium dual-core T3400 (2.16GHz)
Memory - 3GB DDR2
Video - Intel GMA 4500MThat drops the price even lower. I don't know what the Canadian exchange is like these days, but it's probably worth about $250-300 US.
