Hey ppl. Just wondering does anybody know how fast a cooling fan should be going for a AMD Athlon XP 1600+? mines around 4600rpm. thnx.

It depends on the fan and the HSF. Some HSF fans (Volcano 7) vary the speed depending on the temp of the CPU.

Mine usually varies from 3000-5000 RPM.

well if it turns and make little noise and the temp is not high then that good enough for me.

rpms don't mean anything. It's how many cfm and sones that matter. In other words how much air they move and how loud they are. More air moved the louder [all things being equal which they aren't].
