Comment: We have an HP color laser 4500, 4 years old, 100,000 pages printed. It now needs an $850 voltage thing. Would you do the repair, or get a new printer (around $2000)? I'm thinking it's on it's last legs and not worth putting that much $ into.

Reply: (edit)You seem to be saying that we can get 4 more years out of it. Are there any figures anywhere on how long they are supposed to last, page count wise?

Reply: (edit)Laser printers have many expensive components that will have to be replaced over time regardless of pagecount. If you're happy with the overall performance of the one you have, consider the voltage piece. If not, buy a new one. But don't think you will not be paying big bucks when you have to updrade some part of the new one when it comes time. Jake

Reply: (edit)My Laserjet IID has printed over 140000 pages and is still going strong. Clean the rollers occasionally and dig out the dust.
