Specs: Windows XP
I have put a new battery into my Gigabyte 8KNXP Motherboard an since then the Motherboard is not seeing I have 1 SATA Hard Drive on my PC. Before the battery was changed which needed doing everything was working fine and the 1 SATA Hard Drive was being seen by the BIOS and Windows XP Professional was working fine. Now the 1 SATA Hard Drive isn't being seen I can't install my new OS which is Windows 7.

How do you set up the BIOS to see I have 1 SATA Hard Drive connected to the SATA Connection and not a IDE connection?

With 1 SATA Hard Drive does the RAID function in the BIOS need to be Enabled or Disabled and what else in the BIOS do I need to do for the SATA Hard Drive to be seen?

Pretty old board:

Removing/replacing the battery reset the BIOS to its defaults; all custom settings were lost. You should run thru each & every setting & correct as necessary.

If you don't have a copy of the manual, you'll find it here: Gigabyte 8KNXP Manual.

To answer your question, the SATA settings will be found under Integrated Peripherals. See page 45 of the manual.

EDIT: to install Windows, you'll have to configure the boot order so that the CD/DVD drive is listed before the hard drive. Hopefully you have enough RAM for least 2GB?
