How Do You Reinstall a CD Burner?

My CD Burner isn't working, so could someone give me step by step easy to follow and simple instructions on how to uninstall it and then reintall it.

More info is needed. Is it onLy failing to burn? Is it failing to read CDs? What error messages do you get?

It only fails to read sometimes but it usually reads. It fails to write CD's even though it says that it's doing it at 2x and burn process was successful. And no their are no error messages.
Summary: why would you want to format a blank dvd?? If its blank its got nothing on it therefore it doesnt need formating!! If you mean how do you erase a dvd-rw then use some sort of burning software like Ner...
