You look on the label for the drive. Thee should be a diagram for the jumper settings. They are different for each manufacturer.

Note that if your current hard drive is set to 'cable select' (common an manufactured systems) you would be best to reset the original drive to Master and the new one to slave. Cable select was designed to make computer assembly at the manufacturing level easier and less specific for the assembler. Each brand and even model series uses a different chart so most are printed on the label, if no then you need to Google it or go to mfg's site.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
