I have a Gigabyte 7AVXP ULTRA motherboard and my loadup takes ages because of the RAID function.

Try integrated peripherals or onboard peripherals in the BIOS. You can disable RAID there.

Some boards do not allow you to disable raid it in bios and so your only option is to remove the raid module from a bios rom file using a utility such as amibcp and then reflash using the new bios. A lot of people do this to remove their emachines or dell logos from their startup, but you can also mod the bios in other ways.

I just tried it on your bios but got an "invalid rom header" message so I'm not sure this older amibcp version (7.51) works on 2003 bios files. But if you look around for bios modding sites or forums you may figure it out.

Chris, if you have to ask those questions, you might be better off living with that minor bootup irritation. Flashing the Bios is dangerous! If you do something wrong or have a glitch during the flash, your system becomes unuseable. To repair it means replacing the Bios or replacing the motherboard.

imo post 4 is well said and is also why I left out how-to statements from post 2 and was not sure what to say in response to post 3.

Johnoh, I too was not sure how to answer post 3. But finally decided that trying to discourage him was the best way.

By the way, I am always impressed with your posts. :-)
