How do I use InterAct PC Propad 4 with Xpadder?

Specs: Windows 7, 2.81 Core2Duo with 6GB

I'm using Win7 x32 and I just grabbed this old midi joystick controller (I think that's what it's called). More specifically, it is the InterAct PC Propad 4. Looks basically like an original PS1 controller. I previously used the software Xpadder with a USB Rock Band drumset and assigned keyboard keys to the buttons on that controller but I'm having trouble getting my computer or Xpadder to recognize this controller. It is installed through a Turtle Beach Riviera audiocard with that old huge controller input that resembles a serial port. Any pointers to getting my computer to recognize this controller?

"old huge controller input that resembles a serial port"

It's called a gameport & it's not supported by Vista or Win7. I don't know if this workaround will work or not, it might be time to step up to a USB controller.
