Is there an easy way to ground myself or do something to make sure static electricity does not zap my CPU, when working on it?

You can also run your hands against the top metal chassis a few times before you pop the case open.

If your power supply has an ON/OFF switch on the unit you can leave the power cord connected with the switch in the OFF position and then touch a metal part of the case before touching anything else. This assumes you have a proper three wire electrical system that you are connected to. To add to this, I don't recommend placing a case directly on any carpeting as carpeting can be a source of static electricity as well as a source of dust inside the case.
