Specs: Windows 7, Q9950 / 8 GB
I just installed 4 GB of RAM on my exchange server running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 and I am only getting 3.25 GB of RAM.

These are the specs of the server:

I also looked in BIOS and its also showing up as 3.25 GB of RAM there as well.

Is there a BIOS update for this Gigabyte GA-8I945GMH-RH motherboard? Please help me, and thanks.

Oh also, I was told that 3.25 GB of Memory isn't enough for an Exchange Server, but I find no problems with hosting exchange on this server, in fact I find that this server is too good for exchange server.

I am planning to run Exchange Server 2010 with Windows Server 2008 R2 on this machine.

Well that would make sense if the operating system was 32 bit, as you may already know the limit is 4g including the video. The only time I have seen this is on 32bit operating systems, but I did see you say it's 64bit.

If you read the manual it says:

"Due to standard PC architecture, a certain amount of memory is reserved for system usage and therefore the actual memory size is less than the stated amount.
For example, 4 GB of memory size will instead be shown as 3.xxGB memory during system startup."

Amongst other things the integrated graphics will be stealing some of the memory. As the BIOS shows 3.25GB, I would imagine this is the explanation. That 3.25GB is all that is available to the OS.

I lack the confidence to produce solutions out of my imagination so I'm afraid that I sometimes succumb and RTFM.

Is there a way of enabling Memory Remap, like I can with my ASUS P5B-E Motherboard? On this motherboard, I had the remapping feature disabled, then it only shows 2.93 even on 64 bit. Then when I enable that feature, it sees all 4 GB.

Now on my server, I don't know how to enable this remapping feature. Any comments on this?
