Hi there. I was thinking about trying my hand at internet radio- just for friends and people locally around my college campus. I am looking at cheap but effective microphones.
One I was looking at, a Gemini DJM-1 (non-Lavalier) microphone, made me question something I probably should have asked before I began shopping. How do you get microphone audio to the PC? I just assumed the microphone like this one would plug directly into my PC's microphone slot.
My PC has firewire and Usb (not USB2) so if I needed to transfer from a hard drive or something that would probably not be a problem. But how do the internet broadcasters and the church pulpits and anyone else who records their audio from those mics do it?

The sound card has a mic input. It is usually a mini plug.

Yes, the PC slot I referred too. But will that work with the more professional ones- are the plugs the same? Are they compatible? I don't know. Maybe someone does.

Ever heard of Radio Shack?
If your mic is 1/4" they have a 1/4" to mini adapter.
