You make a system repair disk in Windows 7. You can't make floppies. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/...
You should read and understand the owners manual. Some computers allow you to create DVD sets for recovery use.

Hang up and drive @#$%^^
Thanks but my computer is really very old x386 type. I used to have windows xp on the system but somehow the files got corrupted. I have to reload windows XP but I have to format the hard disk. How can I do it?
You don't need a boot disk to do that. Just boot up with the XP cd and start the installation process. At some point it shows the existing partitions. You can delete the partition at that point and create a new one and then proceed with the new installation.
Boot from your windows CD, when you get to the part where it has the partition information about your drive. Select your drive, type D for delete, type L for loose your information, type C for create new partition, select full format and install windows.
Insert your Windows XP disk, then shut down and power up again with the disk in the drive. If it doesn't boot to the disk then go to BIOS and ensure that the CD/DVD drive is set ahead of the hard drive. Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
Wowee, we are all answering at once and overlapping.
Fortunately we are all, more or less, saying the same thing.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
