I just bought a new 64MB PNY Attache USB flask disk. It works great but is there a way that you can boot from it? I was going to instal Windows 95 on it. (41MB). I can't get it to boot at all from my bios. In Windows 98 it detects it as a hard drive. (It's drive D in my computer). Here are my bios choices for booting.
Floppy
IDE-0
IDE-1
IDE-2
IDE-3
USB ZIP/MO
USB RMD-FDD
USB HDD
USB CDROM
USB FDD
BBS-0
BBS-1
BBS-2
BBS-3
NETWORK
SCSI
CDROM
ATAPI ZIP C:
ZIP A:/LS120I did see that the light on the flash drive does not turn on tell after Windows starts loading. So I think the prolblem is that windows sees it as a USB HDD and my bios don't. Is there anything I can do about this?

I've never used a flash drive before, but I think you should disable your hard drive and set your flash drive as the primary disk and use USB HDD.
But like I said, I've never used one before so this is a big guess.
That would be so cool if it works, you can take your os where ever you go!

That's the proulblem! My bios don't see it as a USB HDD. The light on the USB flash dive dosn't go on tell Windows starts to load.

Maybe its needs to be set to IDE3? Iv dont remember seeing a IDE3 in my pc and i already have 2 hdds. Also try unplugging your ide hdd and set your bios to auto maybe it will pick it up.

I'll bet that you had to install a driver for it. If that's the case, the Bios will not be able to access it.

It does not state in specs that it is USB HDD bootable therefore you need to experiment in DOS see following for a little help:

IDE-3 is the IDE secondary slave channel.Response Number 4 (gary)
Yes, I had to instal drivers for it, but thats only in Windows 98. You don't need drivers for other Windows OS's So it might be the same with the Bios.Response Number 5 (x86)
Thanks, for the first link! But I think you got the wrong limk for the second one. (It brings me to my post). LOLWOW, I'm starting to think this is not possible!

Hey Guys
You need to understand the basic comp architecure. It only can be boot if the Bios is supporting. But I don't think it is at the time. Normally USB driver only be loaded after the OS take over from Bios.Good luck

Thankyou nice guy but you are wrong if you read the specs for Award/Pheonix BIOS it has optional components to not only boot from USB devices but also FireWire, if the MoBo manufacturer implements as many are know doing.
