I have an eTower 266 (now 500Mhz) and my CDROM died but I don't know how to take it out. How can I change the CDRW drive into secondary master and the other one secondary slave? Or how can I remove it and change places with it?

Make sure you unplug the power.
Open the case and all will be reveiled.

Make sure you earth yourself by using a ant- staic strap or touching bare metal case.

Take a carefull note of how the flat ribbon data and power cables are fitted. You may need to remove these to access the jumpers.

There will be jumbers at the rear of CDROM drives to set them to master or slave.

CORRECTLY reconnect any cables removed as noted above.

Refit the case.

Replug power.

Fire it up. You may see a bios error message or have to enter it to alter the drive setings to refect your changes.

Save and exit.

Good luck

If the CD-rom died, why bother setting it as slave? Just disconnect the cables from it and reset the jumpers on the CD-RW to master.

removing a CDROM form a PC may well be the easiest thing there is to do. You'll be fine with that, go ahead. It' isn't as hard as you think.
