Could someone tell me how to open an Acer Laptop so I can upgrade the hard drive. Any one of the older Acer laptops might open the same way. It has a cable connector for the hard drive which is set deep inside the hard drive slot so it must be opened from the outside frame in order to connect it to the hard drive. I wonder if the keyboard might somehow come out like I have heard about in some other laptops.

Have you ever done one of those Chinese puzzeles where you have a series of metal shapes all looped together that you are supposed to be able to release. You spend hours manipulating them in all directions to no avail, then somebody comes along and does it in seconds.
Well that is what it is like trying to open a laptop if you have never done it before. If you are lucky, somebody with an Acre Laptop will come along and show you how. If not, get you thinking cap on!!
Like the Chinese puzzle, you will kick yourself when you relise how it is done.
Good luck
Stuart

James,
it is actually quite simple to remove the hard drive:
[1] Unscrew the 5mm screw in the sliding part on the LHS front: you can now see the hard drive
[2] Slide out BOTH speaker covers by using an outbound motion:
[speaker] <<<.----
[ cover ] <<<|

The LHS cover slides to the left of the laptop, the RHS to the right. You can now lift the rear of the keyboard, lift the keyboard out of the way and see the HD connector. Be carefull with the connector: carefully lift the brown bar to unlock the felx circuit [fragile ... do not ask me how I know :(].
BTW, you can now completely disassemble the laptop: [a] remove the display: first unscrew the display 6 screws, unplug the display plug after removing its 2 locking screws [b] you can now remove two 13mm screws -including a stealthy one in the middle of the display footprint- and remove the top of the laptop starting by the rear -it is hinged at the front- [c] remove the bottom. Do not loose screws or their locations :)

James,
To get a good description of the opening procedure, take a look at http://www.acersupport.com/library/e610sg.pdf
It has all the illustrated procedures to open and Acer 370P=TI Extensa 61XX, which is identical to my 370CHave Great Holidays. VS8888
