How can I determine the largest sized hard drive for Compaq Evo N600c laptop? I have a 40gb one but that just doesn't cut it. Would like to upgrade to Vista or Win 7 one day.

As someone posted in your other post, that laptop only supports 1 gig of memory. You aren't going to run Vista or Win 7 very well. I would give up trying to upgrade your old laptop.

Updating this laptop to run Vista or Windows 7 is a futile exercise.

The largest Hard disk is likely to be 132 Gbs, no where near enough for Vista and you will need to update RAM to 2 Mgbs preferably 4 Mbs As this computer only supports 1 Gb it is a non-starter.

With a Pentium III CPU is it is going to be painfully slow no matter what you do,

Stick to XP, it still works quite well. Get all your updates and read these:

I went from XP to Windows 8. Apart from features I don't want or need I have found that XP can still do anything that Win 8 can do, actually somewhat less - long story.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

On a machine that old, stay with XP, it still works reasonable well on 1GB RAM where the later OS's require much more (2GB to 4GB for the 32bit versions and 4GB or more for the 64bit versions) to run well.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
