Hi....I am interested in buying a pinnacle video capture video enhancer card for my computer. It changes TV broadcast signals into MPEG1 or MPEG2 should i want to record them, and i want to know how much space a 1h show would take up in MPEG format. Thanks.

my guess is it would be around 400mb ...just make sure u have alot of hard disk space if your guna keep doing this ..there are alot of Apps out there that can change file formats which in turn can reduce file sizes ..u can even change resolutions which greatly reduces the file size...you just have to do a little more research on these softwares

The size largely depends on time (60 minutes) and the video and audio bitrate used. The higher the video and/or audio bitrate used, the larger the filesize will be.
with a pentium 2 @ 300 mhz, it will be a slowwwwwww and lonnnnnnnng process and that's if you don't freeze up or crash...video encoding needs a somewhat of a fast system
With a system that slow, you are probably going to have issues with on the fly encoding, as well as dropping frames. Keep the bitrate low and choose a small frame size.
