Hooking Up Front Audio

September 17, 2014 at 03:03:58
Specs: Windows 7 Untimate, 8GB
Audio Card: Creative Labs XFi X-treme Music

The new PC case I got has a different front panel audio cable then my previous one so I cant hook it into my XFi card. It says HD audio on the end of the cable and I see a F_Audio on the MoBo. Does this mean though, that I need to enable the on board audio to use my front jacks? Will this cause conflicts with my XFi card and rear sound output?

Any help is a appreciated thank you.

The manual for your card should be able to answer that question. I would imagine the software for the card would at least allow you to use either front or rear and possibly both simultaneously.

As far as the connections go, you can either cut and splice or in some instances, remove the individual wires from the plastic holder and then connect them.

Thank you. I did some heavy googling and found out as long as the software isn't close to the same I can enable both sound cards. I can connect the front panel cable to the MoBo since my SoundCard doesn't have the connection. I then would use the Onboard for my front jacks and the XFi for my speakers.

You didn't indicate you wanted to use both on board and add in. You could try installing both. Might work if you set one for EXCLUSIVE for one program only.
