Home Made DVD not recognised

Specs: Windows XP
I have made a DVD of my old wedding video by recording it onto the DVD player /recorder. But When I put the disc into my computer (to rip it and edit) the computer thinks its a Blank Disc, so I can't copy it to the hard drive. I've got Nero and that can't find the files either.
Whats going on?

What kind of dvd player/recorder do you have and what kind of computer dvd player do you have? Can't google w/o the model #'s

I've never owned one of those dvd player recorder combo deals. I don't know what kind of dvd it produces, I would assume an mpeg2 program stream standard dvd with menus but I don't know.

Anyway, whatever it wrote, your computer dvd player don't know how to read it. Or maybe it can't read the type of dvd you are using. Not all dvd drives read all discs.
