HI from australia!, first off I would like to say that im a builder and not a computer literate person at all.
I was talking to a couple of sparkies (electricians) at work and they told me I should build a computer instead of buying a new one to save some dough, so I got some books out from the library and brought some parts from the local techie store.
On the big building day we all brought the xxxx round and had a few drinks as we tryed putting all the parts together we had a plumber who knew a bit and a couple of sparkies who knew heaps as theyre always playing with wires and switches.
Anyway for some reason we couldnt find the right thread screw for the maxtor drive so Joey just welded it in reakoned it would be more stable - the problem is one of the sparkies said I would save $40 if I used the cooling fan off my old 468 machine, so on it went with a bit of Liquid Nails (was wobbly) welded the case together, greased the rear fan, drilled a couple of holes in the case for a bracket and away we went.
While to cut a long novel short we fired it up and it started a bit of cryptic jargin came on the screen with numbers and all sorts then we had this white smoke come out the rear chamber fan - might have been the liquid nails as it should set for 12 hours before putting it under stress.Anyway the sparkies dont know whats happened but we managed to hacksaw the case open ( Willy shouldnt have welded it till it was tested ) and the sparkies reakoned it must be a burnt out switch so they put a bigger rated one in there and we tryed again but its still dead - any ideas?

LOL oh my god!!!!!!!! no wonder it dont work after reading that wtf was u thinking lmfao
sound to me that your m8's dont like u orthey are just plain stupid, if you built it the way you said then my advise to u is dont ever try to build a pc again and as for saving money buliding a pc is more likey to cost more money as the big companys buy parts in large amounts thus bring'n the price dowen to the the buyerdont give up you day job !!!!!!
stil lol rofl lmfao
i have never heard such a brain dead way of building a PC and sounds to me u got you no idear wot so ever lol!!
people like you should stay well away from building your own pc unless you just build it out of bog roll's and cardboard boxs!!

Thanks for the laugh. :)
Let that be a lesson to everyone, Never weld that case shut until you have tested the computer! :)

Well, building your own computer does save you money IF and ONLY IF you know where to buy your parts. If you buy your parts from the huge chain stores (Like BEST BUY or COMP USA) then you are paying more. Buying parts from a family own mom and pop computer store will save you alot of money...they are inexpensive. And as to welding and liquid nails....no comment...just I wouldn't let you near my computer at all!

You Aussies are so stupid. In New Zealand we never weld the case shut, we just tie it shut with No 8 fencing wire or stick it shut with some chewing gum.
I reckon your problem is heat. I hear it gets real hot up in Brisbane. What you need to do is take a few of those xxxx's out of the beer fridge and put the pc in it. If you turn the fridge down really cool you should be able to overclock your pc as well. You might have to drill a few holes in it for you cables. Use some car bog to seal around the cables.
VERY IMPORTANT:Remember to take your beers out of the fridge before you drill so you dont damage them. I can't stress that point enough.I'd recommend that you leave the cover off your case and pack it full of cans. The aluminium cans make good heat sinks. Sit one on top of your hard drive and rest one against the cpu and maybe even your ram chips.
The downside to this is that it warms the beers. Just remember to give those ones to the mother in law and save the cold ones for your mates. Also, putting a bigger fuse in wont do anything if your power supply isn't up to it.
An old generator should do the job. And while you're at it, replace that stupid little battery on the motherboard with an old tractor battery if you have one.I hope this helps.

yup i totaly agree, sounds just the cure m8.
you deff know how to get the best out ya hardware :)
i have'nt read so much bollox in my life but i like it lol!!!!!!

Hey you little ding dongs! you dont see me laughing at you when you fix-a-door a mickey whisker off now do you? or when you rack an angle off a post !
Now I took this thing to harley at the tech shop and he said the cpu fryed so we put a new one in and hot glued a bigger heatsink on and it goes like a rocket now except it goes to a "non system disk or disk error" phrase - can one of you blokes solve this mystery for me - im at an apples end over it!

Oh and i seem to have the "trend chip away" virus, Joey reakons its a bad one can i get-a-fix on that order to thanks guys?

I see where you are coming from now Mike.
That "trend chip away" virus is a hard one.
I think the only way to cure that is to submerge it in water, smothers it to death.
If for some unknown reason you still are infected I suggest you take it immediately to your local hospital and have an I.V. connected directly to the hard drive using the "trend chip away" antidote.
With some of the newer water cooled PC's they can inject the antidote directly though the cooling system, however in your situation I would suggest you let the virus professionals at the hospital take care of this one.

Hello everyone,
I must admit this is one of the funniest subjects I have read in a while. I am a Computer Specialist, and I work on computers every single day (Fun Fun) And as much as I would love to explain how to fix your problem (DISK ERROR) all I am going to say is this...........It's an ID, 10, T error. All you need to do is this. Take out a pencil and a piece of paper. Write down the error name without spaces and you should figure out your computer error in no time at all. I come across these ID, 10, T errors almost everyday and writing the error down always works for most!
Happy troubleshooting!
