Hello

I have a dvd driver HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8162B on my computer, this only plays audio cd's and dvd's already with films on it.

I am trying to burn files to a blank dvd-r but the driver does not read the blank dvd's. What can i do to make it read the blank dvd's

If it's just a DVD ROM and not a burner then obviously you can use it as a burner.

Edit I couldn't find exact specs from LG but everything I did find says it's a 16X/48X DVD ROM, that is, it read DVDs at 16X and CDs at 48X. So it's not a burner.

Yeah, you can't turn a DVD player into a DVD recorder just by adding burner software.

But now you say you want it to 'read' DVDs? It should already do that unless it's not working right.

You cannot burn a file using a DVD ROM. You have to use a DVD recorder. You don't have a DVD recorder. If you want to burn files to DVD's you need to go out and buy a DVD recorder and install it in your computer.
