Help!! I had my CD-Rom drive taken out, the following drive moved up into its place HL-DT-ST DVD ROM GDR8161B and a DVD-RW fitted. I can't seem to be able to use the GDR8161B Drive to play any discs.

If it was done by a professional I would take it back to them.

Most likely wrong jumper settings. The drives spacial relationship is irrelevant. Ideally optical drives should be paired with HDDs, the HDD being master. If the optical drives have to be paired make sure the writer is set to master using the jumpers om the rear of the drives.

I suppose it could be defective. If you can, try it in another PC.

Thank you for your quick response.

It was a friend who swapped it over for me, but he is a comp. programmer. It did work after he done it but not now.

I will send him the details hopefully he will help me out. Just he is a very busy man and i do not like to annoy him

Thank you once again
