You need a 2.0 USB connection. Sounds like you're using a 1.0 connection/hub.

Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

you can buy a USB 2 PCI card, they are really reasonable anymore.

Go into your device manager and see if you have an enhanced host controller listed. If so, you do have USB 2 on your PC.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Some older computers have a mix of USB 1.1 & 2.0 ports. Additionally hubs may not run at USB 2.0 speeds EVEN if connected to a USB 2.0 port. I have a MSOft keyboard that has 2 USB ports built into it. The keyboard is connected to a USB 2.0 Port. The connection thru the keyboard ports is at USB 1.1.

My laptop's USB hubs have the same problem. Not just ipod, even usb2.0 flash stick plugged into them. And of course, they were all 2.0 hub before. My OS is Windows XP Prof. SP2

If you have ever had to perform a complete system restore you may need to install the MBoard chipset drivers. Reread response #3.

XP only supports USB 2.0 after SP1 or SP2 is installed...which is why I asked in #7
